Question on selling cars

Afternoon.

I was thinking about making a post about selling a 300zx but wanted to see
if it was alright to make the post here.  I know some newsgroups don’t like
that kind of thing so I didn’t want to upset anyone.

Thanks,

Sam

I’m no moderator or rulemaker but since most readers
of this group are into Z cars, I don’t think it would
be a problem to offer a Z car for sale here.

zdriver.com has classifieds as well if you want to
    try there.

Oh thanks.  Actually, I think I probably shouldn’t do it but what the heck.

Two days ago I broke my car.  I accelerated from a stop sign and collided
with another car at a low speed (~ 25mph on my side) and since I swerved
left and braked I messed up my front right bumper and everything near there.
The insurance guys that looked at it told me it wasn’t worth their dime to
fix it and named it a complete loss.  Aside from the body work estimate
(around 2100 for parts and 2100 for labor) the second guy mentioned things
like intercooling & etc…  I’m not a car expert by any means and I don’t
have access to a garage I can use myself so while the insurance people said
it’d be a lot cheaper if I fixed it myself, that’s not gonna happen.
Anyway, the scrap yard is going to give the insurance people around $1500
for it but I thought I’d just double-check to see if there was anyone in the
Washington State area (I’m in Everett, WA) that might be interested in it
for themselves.  I didn’t get to try much with it right after the collision
but it seemed electrical was alright.  cd player still worked, at least.
But I wasn’t driving it from the scene, so…, I dunno.  Like I
    said, I thought I’d check.  It’s a silver 1990 Nissan 300ZX twin turbo t-top
and the damage is localized in the front of the car.  Air bags didn’t deploy
(not even sure the 300zx has them) and I don’t think the interior was messed
up or anything.  I apologize but I don’t have pictures or access to a
digital camera.  They want it out of the body shop by Monday and while I
told them to go ahead and have it towed to the scrap yard, I could probably
change their minds if someone seems interested.  If not, no big deal.  If I
made more money (and had the time and knew about cars and.. and..) I might
taken the $1500 hit and try to fix it up, but…  I’ll really miss the car.
I only had it since July 11th and it had about 107k miles on it but when I
brought it to a repair shop and had them fix the cruise control and replace
the battery terminals they said it was in solid shape and when I had all the
fluids changed and looked at they didn’t find any problems either.  For
$9000 that I paid at the used car dealer ship it was a very good deal in my
    eyes.

If you’re interested, let me know.  Otherwise, drop by the area and cruise
    the junk yards for a silver 90 300zx.  I can’t believe I broke it in a
simple and stupid situation like that.  I guess I can be happy that neither
I nor the other people were injured.  Hell, I hit a 99 ford escort and only
left a large dent and scratch on the driver side door.  Probably a good
thing I was able to swerve a bit.

Dude, that car is good for parts to another Z person. The fact that the
insurance company is screwing you for trying to total the car is complete
    BS.

Only $1,500 for a Twin Turbo Z from the scrap yard??  You could easily sell
the engine alone for at least that much on ebay or something.

Try ebay and see if you can buy a digital camera to take some pictures of
the car itself. You will find that the car could be fixed up for less than
you think. Especially if its a Twin Turbo. Hard to find cars as it is.
