here’s more info for 79 280zx. i’ll try and list.
new auto., trans.,tranny mount ,rear end mount,brakes,all new rubber
vacuum lines ,rebiult dist,fan shroud,radiator,all hoses, heater hoses all
the way to heater core,new fuel pump and lines,muffler,cold start
vaule,thermotime sensor,injector hoses,injector seals,all lights fixed or
replaced,the tranny included ,.new coverter,lines,vacuum mod,fixed
wirering.,new drive shaft,some other things don’t come to mind small little
things… now what i see it still needs…speedometer,air codenser,needs one
vacuum pod for cruise control,paint,floor carpet,head liner,some plastic
finish pieces for interior,needs some air duck plumbing, a timing chain
would be good but not needed right away, does not blow oil or smoke,…..
mileage not sure but guess about 150k . motor still tight. live in phoenix

Whose shocks should I put in my ’79zx, and where’s a good place to buy them
(internet or brick&mortar).

I have a 1981 280ZX with 50,000 miles. Sometimes, car will not idle at a
steady speed, but will vary from 500 to 1000 RPM. I believe that I’ve
isolated problem to the Air Flow Meter that is "binding" slightly near its
idle position. (Instead of closing smoothly to its proper position, it seems
to overshoot that position and close too much. Then it opens too much and
keeps repeating that cycle.)
Is there a way to clean the AFM to get it to operate smoothly again? I would
like to avoid replacing it if possible.
Also, does anyone know of a conversion from the mechanical AFM to a hot wire
Air Mass Sensor for this model? I looked for one at Motorsport, but I did
not find anything.
Well some of you may have seen my original post.
My mechanic thinks it’s the timing belt cuz the disributor(rotor)
don’t turn.He wants to try replacing the belt , I think that might be
a waste of time.I ‘m gonna get an engine ouyt of the salvge yard. I
found a real nice 87 wwith 91k miles on it. The thing is the salvage
yard gy is trying to tell me it’s a real hard swap because a lot of
things are different. Is that true? I have an 86, Both are non turbo.

Thanks for reading this. I have an 86 300 zx non turbo, digital dash.
My compass is stuck seems to always point the same way or it just
moves a little …any quick and easy fixes. I know it really is petty.

hope it is ok to post it here i have been everywhere and still no results, I
have a 1981 datsun/nissan 280zx 2×2 and what happens it just cuts off after
it warms up, it only happens in the summer months, after it gets about 80 or
so then the prob. starts, no warning just shuts down, starts back up most of
the time on the firs try, at high speeds it’s ok most of the time, if i am
traveling about 20 or more all i need to do is just trune the key off and
back on and she is going again, and other times it will cut off and I do
nothing and it will just fire back up on it’s own i need help help please
any responce and I will try anyting at this point.
ps. I have replaced the enging and it still has the same prob. the old one
blew up. so it was a compleat exchange,
